A Pair of Arrests Following Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
This incident resulted in the temporary closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park.

Two more people are now in custody related to a theft at Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals were injured by a substance believed to be pepper spray, as stated by police.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area on suspicion of theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, the force said.

The arrests follow a probe into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the attack, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their luggage upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was one of the injured in the event. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for medical care and have since been discharged.

Officers detained a man in his thirties for suspected robbery and assault near the location. He has since been released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Authorities were alerted at about 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding several people hurt by an irritating chemical thought to be pepper spray.

The assault - which police said was a standalone incident and not considered an act of terror - resulted in delays to rail services and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility briefly.
